Software for a Home Based MLM Business

There are four main pieces of software that I use for my home based MLM business.  Three of them are based around SEO and Internet marketing practices.

Google Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal)

I use GKT to help find ideas for markets that I want to target. It is a free for anyone to use.  You type in a word or phrase and Google will spit out suggestions based on what you input. What I generally do is to brainstorm as many keywords to do with the topic and then input this into GKT (you can input multiple keywords).  If you have a Google account use it to sign into adwords because google will give you more suggestions. Go onto similar websites to yours (or your competitions websites) and have a look at their keywords using the website tab. Here are a few steps to get as many keywords as possible:

• Download all they keywords and put them into a spreadsheet, take the top 50 and input into GKT, rinse and repeat
• Go through the keywords and delete any duplicate and irrelevant.

When I was researching the market I wanted to target, I ended up with a list of 5000 keywords to start my research with.  This is an awesome free tool.

 

Market Samurai

 

Now that you have you list of keywords for your target market you can use the mother of keyword/competition software.  Market samurai will sift through and gather huge amounts of data to help you find the keywords that have the right amount of traffic and the right amount of competition for you to dominate.  I am not going to go into how to use the software in this article as the guys at MS have training videos on their website that will show you everything.  Some of the other features are: seeing how strong the competition is, finding content, publishing content and finding authority back links

This piece if software will save you hours!  Ping Kaching is a link building software.  From this nifty piece of software you can : -bookmark your content to dozens of social bookmarking websites -submit your websites to all of the search engines +-130! -submit your website to dozens of directories -pinging - status updates All at the click of a button

Camtasia (http://www.techsmith.com/index.html)

I spent far too much time and got way too frustrated finding and using free video/ screen capture software in the name of saving $297 I eventually relented and bought camtasia.  It is by far the best software I have used for screen captures and for recording from your webcam.  So if you are planning to include video in your marketing strategy then this is the only software you will need.  It has an easy to use dashboard and also allows you to edit you videos.  A great feature is being able to strip out the audio, this is perfect for content re purposing.

How to Avoid Getting Eaten!

Your competitors will eat you alive if you do not have a strong internet marketing strategy for your home based MLM business. But before you can develop a strategy you need to know who your competitors are.  So how do you do this when there are so many people in the MLM industry? Well, it's really quite simple.  So here is a step-by-step lesson on finding out who is who in your market: Wait! Before I give you the steps you need to have a few questions in mind when looking at your competitors:

• Who is ranking tops in the results?
• What are they selling?
• Who is advertising?
• Who is putting out content and what are they putting out?

Okay, so here are the steps.

1. Go to Google and type in your product or service eg: Super Dooper Vitamin Drink or Super Dooper MLM Course (not real products) or your keywords (for those of you who have done proper market research).
2. In the results you will get all the top search results, click on the first ten and see what they are about.   Make a note of names, products etc
3. At the top of the Google website on the left you will have options like images, videos, news, blogs, forums etc
4. Click through all of these tabs and do the same as in step 2
5. Go to Facebook and search there, again do the same as in step 2
6. Go to Youtube and search there, again do the same as in step 2
7. Go to (your preferred social networking site)  and search there, again do the same as in step 2

You will now have a notepad full of who your competitors are, what they promote and how they promote it.

Two great tools to use to keep an eye on competitors and industry news are Google Reader and Google Alerts.

1. Go to Google Alerts and type in your product or service or keywords.  You can have them emailed to you or sent to your Google reader account.
2. Google reader is where your alerts as well as your RSS feeds are delivered to.

Now you can get all your industry information and keep an eye on your competitors all in one place.
